Today was a really good day. Among other good things, this conversation happened while playing pretend with a kiddo:
King Connor of Jupiter (played by the Munchkin) and Marcus, Supreme Leader of Mars (played by me) discuss their upcoming invasion of Earth over the intergalactic telephone. Picture King Connor with an evil, maniacal voice.
King Connor: the bats are excellent soldiers, because now we don't just clone them, we can regenerate them and they never die!
Marcus: yes, they are much like Cylons.
And without missing a beat,
King Connor: yes, or like pawns in chess. Except more better than pawns because they fly.
Thank you for playing along Munchkin! Maybe in ten years you'll understand all the references I've brought into our games.

Weekly Meal Plan 5.25.2014
Somehow with all of the graduation lead-up and festivities, I missed posting the last week's meal plan and I am a bit late today. I did have a full weekend of graduation ceremonies, so I hope that works as an excuse!
We will be adjusting our regular leftovers days over the next few weeks as the evening schedule changes -- no more night classes for Sean, but a very different work schedule for me. This is where doing a weekly meal plan over the weekend is so helpful for me, because then I am ideally prepared for food during the week. Plus if I have dinners planned, I will have leftovers for lunch at work :)
This week's meal plan:
Sunday: leftovers
Monday: Bok Choy & avocado salad
Tuesday: crock pot Zuppa Toscana
Wednesday: sweet potato skins and salad
Thursday: leftovers
Friday: steak with roasted potatoes and green beans
Saturday: quinoa tabbouleh

Friday: pasta with slow cooker pork ragu
Saturday: mustard pork chops and kale

Happy Passover!
The holiday to commemorate Moses taking the Israelites out of Egypt is celebrated by a week in which we eat no leavened bread. As a kid, this sometimes seemed like a hardship because there were no sandwiches for lunch, and I couldn't eat any of the Easter candy my friends would bring to school (since Easter often occurs during Passover). As an adult, however, Passover has become one of my favorite holidays because it is full of delicious food we eat only once a year. There are the traditional foods, like charosets and gefilte fish, and then there are family traditions like spinach cheese balls! All of it is wonderful and extra special because it only happens once a year.
And without further ado, here is this week's menu.
Sunday: eat up the last of the leftovers!
Monday: Passover Seder at my parents' house
Tuesday: potato quiche (from Design Megillah last year - loved this one!)
Wednesday: Passover beet salad & leftover lamb from Seder
Thursday: leftovers
Friday: cheese soufflé and salad (using matzah cake meal in place of the flour for the soufflé)
Saturday: spinach cheese balls
